How Does Train The Brain Work?

Train the Brain is an accredited online tutoring, homework help, and test prep service operating 100% online. If you’re a middle or high school, college, university, or graduate school student, you can get the help you need when you need it anywhere you have internet access.

Your first step is to register on the Train the Brain website. Once you’ve registered, you’ll use the “Login” link to access your account.

You’ll want to register with an email address you can easily access. Once you’ve created a profile, you’ll confirm your registration through that email account. Afterwards, you’ll be able to login to TTB using those credentials. Be sure to remember your unique password so that you can access your account when it’s time to set up a tutoring or homework help session, login to a tutoring session, or sign in for a live SAT prep course.

Now that you’re registered and logged in, you’ll see the TTB Welcome Page. You’ll choose either Online Tutoring, Homework Help, or any Online Class you’re registered for. You’ll be able to make a request or check on your requests on that Welcome screen. Use the sidebar on the left to check on your requests, sign up for a live online class, and access your session account balance.

When you’re ready to request a session, you select the “Request Now” link under Online Tutoring or Homework Help. You’ll see a helpful map that will show you each step of the process, so you’ll always know what step you’re on and what’s coming up. To schedule your online tutoring session, you’ll need to select the content area for your request, let the tutor know what student level you are, and jot down a brief description of the specific help you need. If you have any attachments, such as class notes, old quizzes, or worksheets, you can attach them here so that your tutor has a clearer idea of what you’re struggling with in the class.

Next, select the duration of the session. TTB offers sessions in half hour segments intervals: .5 hour, 1 hour, 1.5 hours, or 2 hours. Consider your level of confusion and how long the assignment is when you’re selecting a length of time for the session. Remember that if you need more help, you can always schedule another session. We have tutors available throughout the week at different times around the clock to provide you with plenty of scheduling options.

You’ll now select a date up to seven days in advance. Once you click on the calendar icon, a pop-up window will appear so you can choose the date and time for your session. Be sure you accurately select your time zone; otherwise, you might be waiting for a tutor who is expecting you according to Central Time even though you’re running on Atlantic Time! Make sure to double check all of this information, as you can’t reschedule a session after it’s selected.r

You’re now ready to select your tutor! This is where you’ll probably want to spend a little bit of time reading our tutors’ profiles and considering their past experiences, their area of expertise, and their availability.

To narrow down your options, you can select “Show more” on a tutor’s profile to get more details. In the example below, the tutor is available from 3 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekdays and all day on Saturdays and Sundays. You can also see that this tutor is available for all levels of mathematics, including advanced courses like AP Calculus.

If you want to check out a tutor’s ratings, you simply select the “Ratings and Reviews” tab. You can see what other students have to say about their sessions with that tutor. You should notice right away that our tutors receive mainly five star reviews because of their dedication to their students and expertise in their subject areas. However, be sure to read the comments carefully. Take your time and focus on your specific learning needs.

Once you’ve selected your tutor, you’ll have to confirm some important details on the next screen. Check to make sure the subject area, date/time, tutor, description, and attachments are accurate. Confirming those details triggers an automatic email to be sent to you from Train the Brain (@trainthebrain.com). If you can’t find it, check your Spam folder because that email will include session details as well as the message below confirming that your request has been received. Watch either your TTB or email account to be sure your tutor has confirmed your session.

If you want, you can login to TTB and click on “My Requests” to check on the status of your session. If you need to cancel your session, you can do that here as well.

Once your session is approved, all you have to do is show up for your live one-on-one online tutoring session by logging in to TTB and selecting your confirmed session for your confirmed day and time.

If you’re interested in Train the Brain and want to know more, feel free to reach out.
